When you really want to optimize Twitter you need to make the most of Twitter connections. What is a Twitter connection? Well, it’s not targeting followers though that is important. And it’s not sharing Twitter love via RT’s and/or #FollowFriday though equally critical to successful ventures on Twitter.
No, Twitter has now become some type of dating service though you can certainly meet some twitterific tweepers on Twitter. The other day I logged on to Twitter direct, which is something, I rarely ever do these days, but I was looking for an answer to someone’s Yahoo Answer question. It was necessary for me to select “settings” from the top menu to do so. It was then that I found it. A tab labeled “connections” that I hadn’t personally seen before. Not sure how long it has been there, but when I looked at what it contained I was quite aware of why I don’t use Twitter direct on a regular basis.
It’s because of this tab. Well, not the tab, but the contents of the tab. See, it lists all the third party applications I allow to access my Twitter account.
Trying to use Twitter without these application is like trying to drive a car without a steering wheel. If I were me, I would connect to the following services without question. Wait! I – ME – weird… Anyway, let me proceed.
Twitter Grader: Fantastic way of finding out who’s who and where. (Just the facts)
TwitWall: Say goodbye to the 140 character limit of Twitter. (simply Twitterific)
Twitter Karma: Stops people from not following back with a simple click (buh byeee).
Those 3 tools mean so much to my own personal Twitter success. I also like TwitterFeed as it allows me to gain more mileage out of my work.
Though, I’m betting not everyone has a blog, website & Twitter profile though to use this utility that is not required. Another fun one to consider is Fun140 that has a bunch of free fun quizzes and games to share with others. Though sticking with the first three Twitter connections will bring you many miles down the road of social networking success on Twitter. How do I know? Easy. That’s what it did for me.
